Hello. It’s been a long time since I have blogged. I am back from an amazing trip to Vienna and Rome thanks to wonderful relatives who opened their home to me and made it possible for me to see these great places at an affordable price. Vienna is amazing, not to mention their chocolate, croissants, wonderful breads and more chocolate. Italy is so friendly, fun and delicious ( espressos, pizza, pasta, pasterias and gelato)!!!! Rome and it’s ancient history is stunning. Florence, too, is everything I imagined and more. (Romantic) And hip surgery or not, I’m so happy I climbed to the top of the leaning tower of Pisa! Breathtaking sight! So…if you are ever given the opportunity that I was gifted with, seize the moment!

Just wanted to let you know that we recently had a photo shoot of our 2010 SPRING collection. Our talented creative designers continue to keep their pulse on the latest avante-guard ensembles. And, they always maintain comfort as well as incomparable first class quality. (I still wear my favorite original scrub; It is in the wash once a week, and still looks good). When Scrublovers (originally called Sassyscrubs) , launched over five years ago, it was to bring style and comfort and quality back into the medical workplace. I think that you will love the upcoming designer scrubs as much as we love them. The models as well as the photographer continued to “ooh” and “ahh” as the models strutted their stuff in our exciting new designs. Yikes, I guess you could say that I love our new line!!

Today is my 6 weeks post surgery and I am throwing my crutches away. One thing for certain, my husband is a saint! In fact, today I cheated a little and walked a bit around the kitchen to surprise him with Dinner. It’s been a long time. After watching Julie and Julia a few weeks ago, I had an itch to put some love into my cooking and try my hand with the Day Two of Julie’s Project, “Supemes de Volaille aux Champignons.” Wow! I can understand why she wanted to do this. It actually was fun and of course so delicious. Perhaps it’s because I have been out of the kitchen for so long. Who knows, but I think that my husband was happy that I laid the crutches aside for an hour. One thing I also know is that I really miss work! I think that after 30++ years of nursing, I will have to retire slowly. I’m not certain that I could change my scrubs for an apron every day. But French Cuisine twice a week might be nice.

OMG…Five weeks post op! I cannot believe how different it feels to be on the other side of the coin! Convalescing after surgery is much tougher than I ever could have imagined! And…excercises…perhaps if I was a celebrity, I might have physio coming to my door twice a day. But, I’m not. Thus, I have to force myself to do them. I think this might be the hardet part.

Hello,

I am finally back to my Blog. Hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

I have been a little out of commission this past four weeks as I was on the receiving end of the medical profession during the course of having some necessary orthopedic surgery performed. I initially thought I might Blog my entire pre and post op hospital experience because it was so positive. However, I came to the conclusion that medical staff who work in Hospital, live patient/client experiences daily. Thus, I just want to say that my entire stay at UBC was amazing. Nurses really are Angels and everyone who cared for me from Doctors, Nurses, Aides to Physio, exceeded my expectations!

I was so impressed on discharge, that whenever my colleagues called or dropped in to see me, my care became the topic of my conversation. I also think my colleagues are special and give wonderful care in the Hospital that I work in! But,this whole experience of being on the receiving end made me feel proud to be in such a caring profession.

So, a huge thank-you to the UBC nurses in DCS, PAR and the Ortho Ward from myself and my family!

Have a great day!

Hello,

Just had to share this with my customers: Recently I was wearing my favorite scrub top – plum with ice-candy empire. I had an elderly woman tell me how “sharp and fresh” I looked and a little later, an eighteen year old young man told me how “stylin’” I looked. This, of course, put a perpetual smile on my face for the rest of my shift. I was so excited to have such positive comments from such a generation gap! I know I stated that this blog was not about my scrubs, however  I just thought it was too exciting for me not to pass on.

Hello,

Welcome to SCRUBLOVERS blog! We hope you like our scrubs!

I’m Sharon, owner of SCRUBLOVERS but this blog is not about our scrubs. I also am an R.N. and we thought it would be fun and interesting to have a place to share our work day/night ☺ or experience with colleagues. No matter how much we love our profession, to quote a past colleaque of mine…”some days are diamonds and some days are stones.” When I experience a day that is fabulous and makes me happy that I chose nursing, or a day that finds me exhausted physically and mentally, I would love to talk about it with others that can relate to my feelings. I need to vent but my family just wouldn’t understand, nor understand our “jargon.”

I invite anyone in the medical or healing “field” to write about their experiences. Just write your thoughts – no “critical thinking” necessary ☺.

Cheers,
Sharon
